AI-assisted workflows

Drafting support, with people accountable for the decision.

These capabilities work with the patient record when the relevant module and AI configuration are enabled. They are decision-support and drafting aids—not a substitute for professional judgement, diagnosis, or treatment decisions.

Consultation

SOAP Assist

A draft for clinician review.

SOAP Assist can structure free-text input into a draft Subjective-Objective-Assessment-Plan note. The clinician reviews, edits, and decides whether to save it.

How it is governed

  • Uses configured AI capability
  • Drafts structured SOAP sections
  • Clinician review before record use
  • Available in the consultation workflow when enabled
Discharge

AI Discharge Instructions

Draft patient-facing instructions for review.

The discharge workflow can draft patient-facing instructions and a PDF using the information selected for the active admission. Language and reading-level options depend on the configured service.

How it is governed

  • Uses active admission information
  • Configured language and readability options
  • PDF workflow available when enabled
  • Clinical team reviews before sharing
Handoff

SBAR Shift Handoff

A structured draft for the next team.

The handoff workflow can draft a Situation-Background-Assessment-Recommendation brief from current queue and clinical information. The receiving care team remains responsible for reviewing the handoff.

How it is governed

  • Uses current workflow information
  • Structured SBAR format
  • Review before relying on the brief
  • Available when the AI workflow is enabled
Triage

Triage Urgency Flags

A visible prompt, not a clinical decision.

Configured urgency flags can surface recorded inputs in the active queue. They support attention and workflow; they do not replace local triage protocols or clinical judgement.

How it is governed

  • Based on configured recorded inputs
  • Visible in the active queue
  • Local protocols remain authoritative
  • Clinical team retains the triage decision
Deployment-specific configuration

Choose the AI endpoint deliberately.

A hospital may configure a local AI endpoint for a deployment. Disabling external AI prevents HospaSense from sending clinical text or audio to external AI providers; it does not change other separately configured integrations. Your organisation is responsible for its endpoint, deployment controls, and applicable policies.
